Passwords get reused
Most people reuse the same password across many sites. When any one of those sites is breached, that password — and every account it unlocks — is exposed too.
Leaks happen quietly
Large-scale credential leaks are common, and most people never find out their password was part of one until something goes wrong on an account they care about.
A second key stops it cold
Even if someone has your password, they still can't get in without the one-time code sent to your email — so a leaked password alone is no longer enough.

When you sign in from a new device, or when you turn 2FA on from My Profile, we send a 6-digit code to your inbox — valid for a short window.
